  • Post Event Review: WCCD's Agricultural Plastics Collection Event

    WCCD recently held an agricultural plastics recycling collection event which provided farmers with a convenient opportunity to drop off used agricultural plastics, such as silage tarps and bale wrap, for proper recycling. Participants were able to divert large volumes of difficult-to-manage plastic materials away from landfills and on-farm burning. Organizers view the event as a step toward building a more permanent and accessible recycling system for agricultural plastics in the region.

    Attention Farmers: We know that on-farm conservation can be time-consuming and not immediately profitable for your business. We are excited to announce that the Michigan Conservation Stewardship for Farmers Project (formerly MI Climate Smart Farms Program) has re-launched with a new focus on "Farmer First!" You know best what your land and your business need and MCSFP is here to support that.

  • Tillage Surveys Coming Soon

    This spring you may see the WCCD truck out driving slowly along some roads in the southern part of the county. We will be looking at fields to learn how widespread particular fall and spring tillage practices are.

  • Film Screening - Organic Rising

    Organic Rising is coming to The Michigan Theater, April 15th.
    Mingle with area farmers starting at 5:30pm, film begins at 6pm.
    A panel with the award winning Director, Anthony Suau, and local farming advocates to
    follow. This event is hosted by Real Organic Project and Transition to Organic Partnership Program.
