Help Promote & Strengthen Conservation in Washtenaw County

Fall sale volunteers celebrating

What do our Volunteers do:

Our dedicated volunteers are an invaluable part of work we do at the District. There are several ways to get involved depending on your interests, time and goals!

Core Volunteers

Various WCCD opportunities for “drop in volunteers” to help execute distributions and events. Commitment is flexible and shifts are available depending on the event.

  • Tree & Shrub Seedlings, Native Plants, Rain barrels: Assist with preparation for distributions, assisting with distribution days (assisting customers with orders and information, caring for trees and plants, clean up, etc)
  • Events: Assist with set up and execution of several events each year including the Annual Meeting (January), Native Plant Expo & Marketplace (May/June), and tabling at partner events.
  • Workshops and Seminars: Assist with set up and execution of educational events throughout the year.

 Associate Directors:

Assist with the long-term capacity building of the WCCD by serving as a non-voting board director. This is an opportunity to learn more about the governing body of the WCCD. Commitment requires monthly board meetings and serving on a committee.
