About the Washtenaw County Conservation District
Assisting residents with the conservation, management, and wise use of natural resources since 1948
Our Mission
"To assist residents and landowners with the conservation, management, and wise use of natural resources of Washtenaw County."
Who We Are
Established in 1948, the Washtenaw County Conservation District (WCCD) is a local government agency, serving Washtenaw County with soil and water conservation support. A five-member board of directors governs the WCCD and conducts monthly board meetings.
What We Do
Every five years, we conduct countywide resource assessments to determine our communities needs and priorities. Using that data, we establish a 5-year Strategic Plan that guides our work. As a local government agency, learn more about our operations on our transparency page, which includes Annual Reports and financial audits.
We assist Washtenaw County residents through conservation resource distributions, conservation education, connect residents to resources, and one-on-one technical assistance.
