Every year we offer the Spring Tree & Shrub Sale to our residents and surrounding communities, and rotate around 50 various species of shrubs, trees, berries, and fruit for conservation purposes and home farms & gardens. It is simple in concept but complex in reality, we do our best to provide a consistent service and resources to the community, and are navigating many funding and other obstacles. Thanks to all for your participation and patience!
Special thanks:
All the Amazing WCCD staff who put their hearts into the work.
Legacy Land Conservancy & Huron River Watershed Council for the Forest 2 Mi Faucet discount campaigns (over $5000 in discounts). Their funds provided discounts and price drops for our customers this year, incentivizing and making tree planting more accessible!
All the nurseries we source from, providing some high quality big seedlings this year, especially Alpha Nursery, who had to hustle to get our trees in time due to a scheduling issue on our end!
We offer pick-up on Friday 1-6pm and Saturday 9am-11am, but most of our eager customers come at 1pm on Friday to get their plants early and start planting. Thanks for your patience!
Gratitude to our amazing Customers, Staff, Volunteers, & Partners!
Our Resource Specialist, Doug Reith, and volunteer extraordinaire, Karen Nelson, unexpectedly wore their "Trees Trees Trees" shirts on the same day! I guess no one else got the memo.
There's no wrong way to get your trees (as long as you're on time), but getting them on bicycle? That feels right!
Kudos to this intrepid customer!
Lori from Jackson Conservation District brought even more trees to sell. Thanks for joining!
Volunteers enjoy helping so much they can't help leaping in joy!
Customers of all species come to get many plant species!
Over 90 volunteers help over 4 days to make the event happen, we're always endlessly grateful for their efforts and enthusiasm!
We've been so fortunate to have so many volunteers returning each year to bring their energies and efforts to making the event operations run smoothly. Volunteers help with set-up, organizing the 50+ species/products, packing the 873+ orders, and getting the orders to the customers at the pick-up distribution. We're always glad for more volunteers if you're interested. Volunteers get various bonuses including free shirts at the Native Plant Expo, early access to sales, and special events.
We've been recognizing and providing more support to many local partners providing tree distributions and giveaways sourcing from our tree distribution. Notably, we want to thank all those who've used the resources and time for Earth Day, Arbor Day, and other tree giveaways:
Project RED (Rural Education Days) - 1700 white pine seedlings were donated by the WCCD and went home with 1700 3rd graders!
Chelsea Area Garden Club - For at least 3 years now, they've been sourcing trees and providing to the community, over 550 seedlings given away this year!
St. Andrews School got 100 trees for a planting and shifted to give away to their community.
