What were the main goals for this garden at the school?
The goal of our project was to design a native pollinator garden that assisted in alleviating some of the erosion on northside of our school. We empowered our students to find a solution to our erosion issue and create a learning greenspace that would serve future classes.

The project overview
Throughout the school year the 5th grade students designed solutions to an erosion problem on the north side of our school. The constraints included learning about native pollinator plants and edible plants that showcase the diversity of vegetation in our region. With the support of WCCD and Feral Flora the students began preparation of the site in Late May and then held a "Community Planting Party" for STEAM families and younger students.

What were the successes or challenges?
The students led this project, included other grade levels, and created an environment where the community supported the entire process. We had a series of challenges at the beginning of the project but with the support of WCCD and Feral Flora we were able to overcome these.
Plans for maintenance and future use
The students have worked to maintain the garden beds and will continue throughout the coming years.
