We continue to evolve the tree sale to meet the needs of Washtenaw residents and align our shared missions with other organizations. This year was exemplary of this growth through partnerships, including some highlights outlined below.
42,525 Trees & Shrubs distributed
- 741 pre-sale customers and over 185 extra sales customers!
- Over 100 volunteers made the sales distribution possible! Sign-up to volunteer.
- 845 trees went to Washtenaw County Parks & Rec for tree planting in Parks & Preserves
- 4500 trees went to the Ann Arbor 10k Tree Giveaway
- 1850 seedlings were donated to students during Project Rural Education Days (RED)
50,000 Hazelnut seedlings Giveaway!
- Through a partnership with The Stewardship Network, we gave away bulk hazelnut quantities to over 50 organizations / farms, and to many residents at the tree sale.
$1,800+ Discounts on 1,340 riparian seedlings
- Through the MDNR Forest 2 MI Faucet program, we partnered with the Huron River Watershed Council & Legacy Land Conservancy to provide tree sale discounts on Riparian species.
3,225 Trees & Shrubs planted with the Tree Planter
Our tree seedling transplanter is available to rent and can plant 250+ seedlings per hour!
Tree Giveaways & Volunteer plantings!
We supported local cities, organizations, and municipalities with their tree giveaways & planting projects including:
- City of Ypsilanti
- City of Dexter
- City of Chelsea
- Chelsea Area Garden Club
- Chelsea Girl Scouts' tree planting at the Waterloo Farm & Dewey School Museum

Rain Barrels & Supplies Sales
We continue to offer Rain Barrel sales including a variety of rain barrels, 275 gallon totes, tumbling composters and many additional products.
So far in 2024 over 62 Washtenaw residents have participated in water collection on their properties by purchasing:
- 44 Rain Barrels
- 10 275 Gallon Rain Totes
- 2 Tumbling Composters

The Equipment & Tool Lending Library grows!
No-Till Drill for rent!
In 2023 we launched a new Equipment & Tool Lending Library system offering various tools for soil testing, invasive removal, pruning, garden preparation, and planting. We have a Tree Seedling Transplanter and No-Till Grass Seed Drill for rent. Additionally, there are Herbicide Application tools offered in collaboration with the JLW CISMA. Much of the collection is also linked from the Ann Arbor District Library catalog.
Since the launch last spring, we've had over:
- 208 Total equipment rentals & tool loans
- 145 Total Residents participating
- 3,225 Trees planted with the tree planter in April 2024
- 18.6 Acres planted with the no-till drill in 2024
We've just announce new tools, including more of the popular tree puller tools, soil compaction tester, and a broadfork for garden preparation. We're working in collaboration with the Growing Hope Urban Farm's new tool bank to provide resources accessible in different locations in Washtenaw too.
